Amala Cancer hospital (ISO 9001-2000 Certified), a dream of Kerala Cancer Society, was inaugurated by Sri. Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, the President of India, on April 25, 1978. The comprehensive therapeutic services comprise Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy and Cancer Surgery. The Hospital has its own reception and ambulatory area. Its wards and rooms can accommodate 280 in-patients at a time. It services an average of 30,000 out-patients and 6,000 in-patients annually.
Palliative care has a significant role in cancer treatment. It takes care of physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs.
To achieve these goals, Amala has set up a pain clinic, combining both modern and oriental systems of medicine.
